Cenfluence is highlighting resources specifically for student-owned companies. There are a number of Central Florida resources for student-owned businesses including support, funding, accelerators, and more!

College Resources

University of Central Florida:

  • Blackstone LaunchPad: Blackstone joins UCF to create a campus hub for innovation, where students cultivate entrepreneurial skills, receive guidance from a dedicated faculty director, and connect with like-minded peers.
  • Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership: Helps UCF students, recent alumni, faculty and staff become successful entrepreneurial leaders. Check out their funding opportunities here. 
  • College of Engineering Maker Lab: Rapid prototyping is faster and easier than ever at UCF in this lab complex in the Engineering II Atrium. Opened in fall 2014, these Maker Spaces are strategically designed to turn creative ideas into marketable innovations, and available to all UCF students.
  • Venture Launch Program: A no-cost graduate student and post-doctoral entrepreneurship program. It is sponsored by the Tech Transfer Office and Orange County Government. If you are a current UCF graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, faculty, and researchers interested in starting up your own company then this is the place to start.

University of South Florida: 

  • Nault Center for Entrepreneurship: The center is training future entrepreneurs, investing in startups, mentoring leaders, and holding competitions.
  • Student Innovation Incubator: USF CONNECT’s Student Innovation Incubator (SII) is able to assist you in any stage of business development. If you have ever wanted to start and grow your own business while studying at USF, the Student Innovation Incubator can help you turn your dream into a reality. Surrounded by like-minded student entrepreneurs, the incubator is more than just office space; it is the first step to becoming a successful entrepreneur!

University of Florida:

  • Gator Hatchery – Student Business Incubator: The Gator Hatchery is a student business incubator that provides all UF student entrepreneurs with co-working space, office support, mentors, and other resources necessary for early-stage growth.
  • Warrington College of Business Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center: Created to teach, coach and inspire students to be entrepreneurial in their lives. The Center provides students the tools and experiences necessary to creatively pursue new opportunities and innovations in the start-up, social, and corporate venture arenas.

Regional Community & State College Resources:

Regional Resources in Central Florida

  • Florida FAST (SBIR/STTR Support): The Corridor helps Florida’s small businesses can tap into Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) awards, the nation’s largest source of early-stage startup funding for research and development. Unlike traditional venture capital, SBIR/STTR funds are non-dilutive, so participants retain full company ownership, including the rights to intellectual property.
  • VentureWell: They foster collaboration among the best minds from research labs, classrooms, and beyond to advance innovation and entrepreneurship education and to provide unique opportunities for STEM students and researchers to fully realize their potential to improve the world.

Getting Started in Undergraduate Research

  • Energy Tech University Prize 2024: Sponsored by the Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the EnergyTech University Prize (EnergyTech UP) is a collegiate competition challenging multidisciplinary student teams to develop and present a business plan that leverages high-potential energy technologies. EnergyTech UP awards cash prizes to teams that successfully identify an energy technology, assess its market potential, and propose a strategy for commercialization.
  • University of Central Florida: Undergraduate Researchers at UCF are doing work in fields from mechanical engineering and biomedical sciences to marketing and theatre. Students work closely with research teams that are led by UCF faculty. See workshops and information systems here.
  • University of South Florida: As an undergraduate student at USF, you can actively collaborate in research with USF distinguished faculty or graduate students, as well as through jobs and internships in one of our various departments. These opportunities are abundant throughout the university. Get started here.
  • University of Florida: The University of Florida has a long tradition of discovery through the deep and broad research enterprise housed in all of its varied Colleges and Institutes. This research-rich environment offers undergraduates extensive opportunities to become engaged in their fields in ways that go beyond traditional classroom settings.
